Bhubaneswar: A case has been registered against two women in the cash for vote allegations during campaign for the by-election in Dhamnagar Assembly constituency of Odisha.
The FIR was registered at Dhamnagar Police Station under several sections of IPC and Representation of Peoples Act after allegation about cash distribution to lure voters was received, Odisha’s Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) S K Lohani said on Wednesday.
“We identified the accused yesterday (Tuesday). Following the identification, we lodged the FIR within 24 hours,” he said
Apart from cash distribution allegations, there was another video showing a BJD worker announcing in a party meeting that Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will give Rs 1 crore to every panchayat in Dhamnagar that votes for the BJD.
On this viral video, Lohani said, the man who was seen saying about Rs 1 crore for votes has been identified. Complaints have been registered under Section 123 (1), 123 (2), 123 (3A) of Representation of People Act 1951 and IPC section 171 (B), 171 (E) IPC has been filed in a court in Dhamnagar against the identified person.
