Bhubaneswar: In a major twist to the sensational Unmay Padhi death case, the forensic report received by police on Wednesday hinted that it may be a case of suicide, not murder.

However, the post-mortem report of the deceased youth hailing from BJB Nagar here had revealed that a number of people were involved in the murder case.

The report had further stated that the miscreants hit the victim on the head and then stabbed him in the stomach. They later set him on fire before fleeing the spot.

A girl, who was detained in connection with Unmay Padhi murder case, had knocked the doors of the Crime Branch seeking an impartial probe into the case.

She had also requested the cyber cell of the Crime Branch to destroy the video clip featuring her along with Unmay that had gone viral last year and punish those who had circulated those video clips.

The girl, along with her male friend and Unmay’s brother were picked up by police for questioning in connection with the case on March 24. Police have started inquiry on basis of the allegation made by Unmay’s family that he was murdered over the obscene video clip.

The post-mortem report of the deceased, whose half-charred body was recovered from Kuakhai riverbed on March 21, hinted at involvement of multiple people in the murder.
