Uncovered Farmers To Be Included In PM Kisan Nidhi Yojana In 15 Days, Says Odisha CM

Bargarh: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday said the farmers not covered by PM Kisan Nidhi Yojana would be brought under the scheme in 15 days.

The chief minister said this while speaking at Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Utsav in Bargarh. While Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Utsav at Varanasi for transfer of the fund to the farmers’ accounts, Rs 632.48 crore was paid to 31.62 lakh farmers in Odisha. In the first instalment, each farmer has been paid Rs 2,000, Majhi said.

On his arrival, the chief minister took out a road show through the western Odisha town where thousands of people greeted him standing on both sides of the roads. He also offered floral tributes to the statue of Mahatma Gandhi during the roadshow.

Stating that the Prime Minister has been keeping the interests of the farmers as his top priority, Majhi said the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana was launched by the Centre in 2019. Under the scheme, the Central assistance to the farmers is deposited in their accounts through DBT.

The chief minister also said his government is committed to the welfare of the farmers. “On the first day of assuming power, the State Cabinet approved the proposals to increase the minimum support price for paddy to Rs 3,100 per quintal. While the previous government did not fulfil its poll promise to pay Rs 100 bonus to the farmers, my government has prioritised the growth of farm sector,” he added.
