Puri: The body of a woman, suspected to be murdered, was found on a roadside in Odisha’s Puri district on Sunday.
According to sources, some local people spotted the middle-aged woman lying on the side of a road in Konark forest range in the district in the morning. Ob closer inspection, they found that the woman was dead and informed the police.
A team from Konark police station went to the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. On being asked about the identity of the woman, the locals told the police that she did not belong to the area nor they had seen her earlier.
The police suspected that the woman was murdered and later, her body was dumped at the spot to mislead them, the sources said.
However, the police have registered a case and started investigation to ascertain the identity of the woman and the cause of her murder, they added.
