New Delhi: Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank on Thursday said that there is no plan to cancel NEET 2021.
While addressing students during the live discussion on twitter Pokhriyal said, “There is no plan to cancel NEET 2021. We postponed NEET thrice in 2020 and gave students an opportunity to change their exam centres. We could have cancelled the exam but it would have been a great loss for students and the country.”
In a webinar he said, “NEET is a test which needs offline mode. The Ministry is open to give suggestions on online model and how it can be conducted through a digital mode. The government is looking into the possibility of holding JEE exams multiple times a year.”
“The Government will ensure that students from across educational board will be able to give the competitive exams like JEE and NEET without any difficulty,” said the Minister.
During the live interaction Pokhriyal was asked about the difficulty of giving practical examination for the 10th and 12th boards in the laboratories due to COVID-19. “In view of COVID-19, the schools and respective education boards will look into alternatives if the practical exams cannot be conducted,” he said.
