Puri: BJP leader and Union Petroleum minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Sunday appealed for a united effort for development of the Jagannath temple here.
Briefing mediapersons after a meeting with the sevayats of the temple and their family members at the Circuit House here, Pradhan said the sevayats apprised him of various issues on health, education, housing and skill development.
“As the sevayats serve as the medium between the Lord and the devotees, it is our responsibility to ensure their well-being. I will personally take up some of their issues and apprise the state and Central governments to fulfill their basic requirements,” Dharmendra said.
Referring to the development of the heritage corridor, he said it will be better if there is more development works for the Jagannath temple.
“The cooperation of the people is necessary for development of the heritage corridor. However, some people are unnecessarily trying to hinder it without understanding the rules and regulations. People know who these elements are. But this will not affect those associated with the temple and its tradition. I request the people to refrain from this blame game and extend their cooperation for development of the Jagannath temple,” Dharmendra said.
