Puri: Union Minister of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying Parshottam Rupala visited the Jagannath Temple in Odisha’s pilgrim town of Puri on Monday and offered prayer before the sibling deities.
Rupala, who is on a three-day visit to Odisha, went to the 12th century shrine along with his family and has a smooth darshan of the trinity.
The Union Minister was accompanied by BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra and veteran actor, filmmaker and leader Prashant Nanda during his visit to the temple.
Rupala was welcomed by Singhari Sevayat of the temple, Madhusudan Singhari, who presented khandua patta to the Union Minister.
The Minister, who went around the sprawling temple complex, hailed unique architectural marvel of the entire structure.
He also spoke about the phase XI of the Sagar Parikrama Yatra that he led from the fishing harbour at Arjipalli in Ganjam district on Sunday.
The minister said he had interacted with beneficiaries of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY). The KCC and certificates were distributed and assets awarded to progressive fishermen under PMMSY scheme.
