New Delhi/Bhubaneswar: Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik extended their wishes and greetings on National Girl Child Day on Sunday.
The Vice-President appealed to parents to empower girls through education and said there should be zero tolerance towards crimes against women. “I call upon all parents to empower girls through education and ensure that there is no gender discrimination. Boys must be made to respect girls from a young age. A change in mindset is the need of the hour; only then will our girls feel safe and empowered,” he tweeted.
Expressing his gratitude to ‘daughters of India,’ the Prime Minister tweeted, “On National Girl Child Day, we salute our ‘Desh Ki Beti’ and the accomplishments in various fields. The Central Government has undertaken many initiatives that focus on empowering the girl child, including access to education, better healthcare and improving gender sensitivity.”
Calling for helping the girls realise their dreams, Odisha Chief Minister said, “On National Girl Child Day, let’s take a moment to celebrate the courage of our girls who are breaking boundaries everyday to achieve their dreams. We remain steadfast in our resolve to remove every barrier to help them realise their true potential.”
