Bhubaneswar: Vigilance has apprehended a college principal while taking a bribe of Rs 1 lakh in Odisha’s Nayagarh district.
Following a complaint by an employee of Dadhibaman Jew Plus III Mahavidyalaya at Bahadajhola in the district that the principal of the college, Nalini Ranjan Bhuian, was demanding Rs one lakh as illegal gratification for releasing his outstanding arrear of salary amounting to over Rs 5 lakh, the Odisha Vigilance set a trap.
As per the plan, the employee went to give the money and the Vigilance officials caught the principal accepting it red-handed. They recovered the entire bribe money from the possession of Bhuian and seized it.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches were going on at two locations of Bhuian from DA angle.
Bhubaneswar Vigilance has registered a case under PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 in this connection against Bhuian. Further investigation was in progress.
