Bhubaneswar: Vigilance has arrested an officer of Ambuja Cement for giving Rs 2 lakh bribe to Bargarh district collector in Odisha.
According to Vigilance sources, Rambhav Gattu, Chief Manufacturing Officer (East), Ambuja Cement, Chhattisgarh, had gone to the office of Bargarh Collector Aditya Goyal to meet him. During the visit, Gattu offered a flower bouquet and a sweet packet to the collector.
Suspecting the packet, the Collector directed his peon to open it. The peon found four Rs 500 GC note bundles inside the packet. The collector detained Gattu and informed the Odisha Vigilance.
A Vigilance team reached there and seized the packet containing Rs 2 lakh. They also arrested Gattu and forwarded him to the court.
Sambalpur Vigilance has registered a case against Gattu under PC Act, 1988 as amended by PC Amendment Act, 2018 for attempting to induce a public servant.
