Cuttack: Vigilance on Thursday arrested an assistant engineer in Bhubaneswar in disproportionate assets case.
The Vigilance sleuths had conducted raids on the properties of Sarada Prasad Gauda, assistant engineer, R&B Division, Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. After search at Gauda’s residence in Bhubaneswar; house at native Badagada, Ganjam; houses of relatives in Ganjam district and office in Bhubaneswar, he was found to be in possession of a three-storey building, one flat, 19 plots of land, a four-wheeler, 2 two-wheelers, deposits in banks, investment in insurance, gold and silver ornaments and cash.
After inventory and further enquiry, Gauda was found to be in possession of assets disproportionate to his known sources of income to the tune of Rs 1,33,13,443. As he failed to account for his assets, the Vigilance officials arrested the assistant engineer on Thursday.
