Odisha Vigilance Court Directs To Confiscate Rs 5.86 Cr DA Of Former BMC Engineer

Bhubaneswar: A Vigilance court has ordered for confiscation of disproportionate assets (DA) worth over Rs 5.86 crore of former engineer of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation Subash Chandra Mishra.

The assets includes 3 buildings, as many plots in Mouza Rajarani, Bhubaneswar & Bhimpur, 2.5 kg gold ornaments and bank, insurance deposits and investment in shares to the tune of Rs 34 lakh, an official release said.

The Vigilance sleuths had carried out raids on properties linked to Mishra in 2004 and the charge sheet was filed in 2012.

He was charged under Sections 13 (2) r/w 13 (1) (e) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. During the investigation, the properties were attached, and the Vigilance moved the court for confiscation of the same.

After hearing the case, the court pronounced the confiscation judgment which was received on Saturday, it added.
