Bhubaneswar: The Special Vigilance Court, Bhubaneswar, on Monday ordered for confiscation of immovable and movable assets to the tune of Rs 2.18 crore of former superintending engineer Bipin Bihari Panda.
Besides cash and deposits, the assets include two buildings and three plots in Bhubaneswar and Berhampur.
Panda, who served in Cuttack division of Rural Water Supply Sanitation (RWSS), was booked in 1997 for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income after raids were conducted at his residential and office premises. In October 2015, a special Vigilance court sentenced him to 20 months rigorous imprisonment in connection with the case.
