Bhubaneswar: A newborn baby was reportedly found abandoned in a village on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
As per reports, Pabitra Kumar Das of Bhagbanpur near Nandankanan Zoological Park (NZP) had gone to cut grass to a field near Raghunathpur in the morning when he heard the cries of a baby. On inspecting the area, he found the newborn girl in a sack lying near a drain.
Pabitra informed his family and the villagers and took the girl to a private hospital. Later, the newborn was shifted to Capital Hospital. She was admitted to the paediatric ward of the hospital and her condition was stable, said hospital sources.
After her total recovery, the baby would be handed over to the Child Line, said the sources.
Meanwhile, Pabitra and his wife Pravati have evinced interest to adopt the newborn baby and appealed to the authorities to allow them to take care of the girl.
