Jharsuguda: A police complaint has been registered against two persons by Jharsuguda district administration authorities for organizing a birthday and marriage anniversary functions while being under home quarantine.
According to Jharsuguda Collector Saroj Kumar Samal, the complaint has been lodged against heads of two families under Section 15 of the Disaster Management Act and Sections 296, 271 and 188 of IPC.
A woman was staying at her uncle’s house in Brajrajnagar with her husband and son after returning from Gurugram on June 6. Despite being in quarantine, as per Odisha government’s COVID-19 guidelines, she celebrated her son’s birthday and invited neighbours to the party.
On June 15, the woman tested positive for coronavirus, following which the district administration declared the area as a containment zone.
Her neighbours attended a marriage anniversary function of another family in the same area. As many as 17 persons of the colony have been detected coronavirus positive during contact tracing.
The Jharsuguda Collector warned people not to be so careless and violating norms in containment zones.
