Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Tuesday sealed the market area in Bapuji Nagar here indefinitely.
Talking to mediapersons here, BMC deputy zonal commissioner Anshuman Rath said that the BMC had allowed for opening of shops in Bapuji Nagar from May 4. The shop owners and the people were reminded time and again to strictly adhere to the social distancing guidelines.
“Since the shop owners and people continued to flout the guidelines, we were left with option but to seal the market indefinitely,” he added.
Shops dealing with essential services like milk, medicine and baby food will remain open, he added.
