Rourkela: The Rourkela Municipal Corporation (RMC) and the local administration on Saturday imposed monetary fines on those shopkeepers and citizens who violated COVID-19 guidelines.
Rourkela ADM Aboli S Naravane, RMC commissioner Dibyajyoti Parida, deputy commissioner Sudhanshu Bhoi, additional tehsildar Abhijit Mahanta, and OSD, Rourkela Development Authority (RDA) Jitendra Mahankud led the drive at various places of the city.
The team sought to make people aware on importance of wearing masks and maintaining social distancing in public places, shops etc. to fight the COVID-19 pandemic.
The team, while praising the people for taking appropriate measures to maintain social distancing norms, warned some shopkeepers and business establishments for not marking out lines in front of their shops for customers to stand at a distance of two metres from each other.
The team collected fines worth Rs 43,500.
