Bengaluru: An unusual and scary scene unfolded at Anekal town, in the suburbs of Bengaluru city.
A massive temple chariot, standing 120 feet tall, collapsed during a religious and cultural event here on Saturday.
Thousands of devotees, from 10 villages, were participating in the annual chariot fair of Huskur Madduramma temple when the mishap took place.
The huge, intricately-decorated chariot, which was tied with ropes on all sides, lost balance and came crashing down to the ground when devotees were trying to raise it.
Thankfully, the heavy structure narrowly missed hitting an electric pole and a group of devotees who quickly moved to safety.

The chariot was later pulled up and restored to its original position with the help of tractors and ox carts.
Huskur Madduramma fair is an extremely popular annual festival where the main attraction are the chariots.
Till about a decade back, more than 100 chariots would feature at the festival. However, the number has dropped to 10 or 15 in recent years.
