Not for the first time, a BJP leader has spoken about the virtues of cow urine and how it can be used to treat the deadly coronavirus infection.
In a video which went viral on Twitter, BJP MP Pragya Thakur is heard saying that drinking cow urine on a regular basis can protect people from contracting coronavirus.
“If we consume desi gau mutra (urine from indigenous cows) every day, then we can cure our lung infections caused due to Covid. I am in constant pain but I drink cow urine daily. So now I don’t have to take any medicine against corona and I don’t have corona. Cow urine is a life-saver,” Thakur tells a group of people.
Youth Congress chief BV Srinivas, who shared Thakur’s video, tagged Union Health minister Harsh Vardhan and asked him: “Sir, is this true?”
BJP MLA Surendra Singh had said a few weeks back that cow urine had protected him from coronavirus.
Yudhvir Sethi, another BJP leader, claimed earlier that “havan yagya” can eliminate COVID-19.
“According to the Vedas, saints used to perform Havan Yagyas to purify the environment by sublimating the Havan Samagri in fire. People should take a cue from the rich heritage of our country and should take refuge under the realms of Vedas to overcome diseases like Covid-19,” Sethi had reportedly said.
The Indian Medical Association and several doctors have repeatedly affirmed that there is no scientific evidence to prove cow urine can be used to treat COVID-19.
