Bhubaneswar: The forecourt of Indira Gandhi Airport (IGI) airport was waterlogged as Delhi witnessed heavy rainfall on Saturday morning.
In visuals shared by news agency ANI, aircraft at the airport were seen partially flooded. With flight operations affected by bad weather, IndiGo, SpiceJet had asked the passengers to track their flight status before leaving for the airport.
The incessant heavy rainfall also led to waterlogging in several areas in the national capital, affecting daily commuters and causing traffic disruptions. Traffic was seen moving at a snail’s pace in Madhu Vihar, Jorbagh, Motibagh, RK Puram, Sadar Bazar area and ITO with roads partially inundated. Zakira Underpass near Inderlok was closed.
An ‘orange alert’ has been issued for Delhi, which has witnessed the monsoon season’s highest in 46 years.
In the latest update at 12:10 pm, IMD said, “Thunderstorm with heavy to very heavy intensity rain would occur over and adjoining areas of few places of Delhi (Akshardham, Shahadra, Preet Vihar), NCR (Noida, Greater Noida, Ghaziabad, Loni Dehat, Hindon AF, Indirapuram, Chapraula)”.
