Mumbai: A song titled ‘Meri Maa’ was released on Saturday in honour of real-life hero Sonu Sood, who stepped forward to help stranded migrants during coronavirus pandemic.
The lyrics have been penned by Vandana Khandelwal and Rahul Jain has lent his voice to the song, which revolves around the testing times when mothers across the country wait impatiently to reunite with their children, stuck in faraway locales amid the lockdown. The video features glimpses of Sonu Sood’s journey during the lockdown period.
Talking about the song, Sonu said, “When Vandana and Rahul narrated the idea behind the song, which is about a mother waiting for her son to come back home, it struck a chord with me. I was extremely close to my mother. She is not around anymore, but she has been guiding me throughout these difficult times. She always encouraged me to help others, she is my inspiration. Yeh sab unka hi sikhaya hua hai.”
Singer-composer Rahul Jain shared the song on his Instagram handle and wrote: “Main roya pardes mein to…Bheega Maa ka pyaar…Dukh ne dukh se baat …Bin chitti bin taar…Lauta jo ghar ko main…To mamta uski muskurayi …MERI MAA ki duaein Mujhe. Wapas Ghar le aayi’. Dedicated to #gharbhejo initiative by @sonu_sood and all fellow Indians who stood by each other in these difficult times.”
