Bhubaneswar: Odisha-born IRS Officer Rasmi Ranjan Das recently addressed the Special Meeting of the Council on International Cooperation in Tax Matters during the 2023 session of the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
The meeting aimed at furthering advance policy dialogue on using tax as a policy lever for sustainable development and making the international tax system fair and effective.

Das, who is currently serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Finance, is among an elite group of 25 tax experts from across the world appointed as members of the United Nations Tax Committee till 2025. He belongs to Bhubaneswar.
The committee, formally known as the United Nations Committee of Experts on International Cooperation in Tax Affairs, assists countries in their efforts to prevent double or multiple taxations as well as non-taxation, broaden their tax base, strengthen their tax administration, and prevent international tax evasion and avoidance.
