Bhubaneswar: Finance Minister Niranjan Pujari, Law Minister Pratap Jena and Water Resources Minister Raghunandan Das led the electorate in exercising the franchise in panchayat elections in their respective areas across Odisha on Wednesday.
The Finance Minister stood in the queue along with other voters at a booth in Rampur village under Dunguripali block of Subarnapur district to cast his vote. After exercising his franchise, he flashed his inked finger before the media and said all eligible voters should participate in panchayat polls to strengthen the democracy at grassroots level.
Minister Pratap Jena came with his wife and daughter to a booth to cast their booths in Alijoda village under Mahanga block of Cuttack district. Similarly, the Water Resources Minister stood in the line with common voters for his turn to cast vote before a booth at Balisahi Primary School under Balikuda block in Jagatsinghpur district.
In Nabarangpur district, MP Ramesh Majhi and Jharigaon MLA Prakash Chandra Majhi participated in voting at a booth in Dandamunda UP School under Chandahandi block.
While Bhograi MLA Ananta Das cast his vote at Kuruthia under Bhograi block in Balasore district, MLA Pritam Padhi went to a booth in Pakajhola village under Semiliguda block of Koraput district on the day.
Senior leader Pradeep Majhi, who quit Congress to join BJD recently, also lined up at a booth in Jharigaon of Nabarangpur district. After casting his vote, Majhi proceeded to campaign in Kosagumuda block.
