Baripada: A police officer was beaten up and kept inside a closed vehicle for several hours for trying to stop a sheep fight in Mayurbhanj district on Thursday.
According to sources, some youths of Guduta village under Jamada police limits had organised a sheep fight festival on the day. Over 20,000 people from the district as well as Jharkhand and West Bengal had gathered at the venue, attracted by the promotion of the festival on social media by the organisers.
