Bhubaneswar: Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra is now the talk of the town with her sassy and witty answers, smashing stereotypes about India and Bollywood. To promote her upcoming American TV show Quantico Season 3, she has been to various talks shows as guests.

Her recent appearance was on the Late Night with Seth Meyers, where she spoke about her show and her stay in Italy and her mother. However, she drew the loudest cheers while smashing the stereotypes on Indian film industry when Seth Meyers mentioned that he was one of those who thought Bollywood was a genre.

She replied with all sass: “No, and that’s what annoys me so much. I realized that when I was in India working in Hindi films that Bollywood has been reduced to a genre, when it’s not. Its actually an entire industry with movies which is action, drama…”

She then mentioned coming across Bollywood flavoured popcorn and the crowd burst into laughter.

This wasn’t the only show. On another American show ‘The View’ on May 3, she spoke about Bollywood when one of her dance videos ‘Pinga’ from her movie ‘Bajirao Mastani’ was played. She went on to speak about the films she has done in Hindi and also revealed that she’s attending the royal wedding of Meghan Markle. Though, what turned it into a serious discussion was Simpson’s Apu Controversy.

Controversy surrounded the character since the release of a documentary last year called ‘The Problem with Apu’, streaming on truTV. In the documentary, writer Hari Kondabolu, talks about Indian shopkeeper Apu Nahasapeenmapetilon who creates racial stereotypes through weird manners and an exaggerated accent.

PeeCee, who spend her teenage in the United States, said she was often bullied with ignorant questions by her classmates. “I was always asked when I was in high school at 14, 15, why I didn’t speak like that. Or are my parents doctors (which they are)? Did I find gold in my rivers? Did I go to school on elephants? I always had questions like that,” said Priyanka.

She further says the character is out-of-date. Watch it here:

Nonetheless, Priyanka Chopra is making us all proud abroad. Not only her work and her talk shows, but her style has also been quite a rage. No one can miss her drool-worthy looks now that she’s out promoting her TV show.
