Donald Trump, who lost his bid to be relected as US President in a bitter battle last year, has claimed that he will knock out successor Joe Biden if they engaged in a bout in the boxing ring.
The former US President made the comment on Thursday night while attending the Evander Holyfield vs Vitor Belfort pre-fight press conference.
Asked who he would like to fight on Saturday, if given a choice, Trump picked President Biden, and went on to predict that the latter would go down ‘very very quickly’.
“Well, if I had to pick somebody in the world, not only a professional boxer — because I’ll take a pass on the professional boxers, that could be a very dangerous subject, but if I had to box somebody, I think probably my easiest fight would be Joe Biden because I think he’d go down within the first few seconds,” Trump said.
Trump made a reference to a statement made by Biden three years ago, in which the current president stated he would “beat the hell” out of his predecessor in the White House if they had met in high school.
Trump will be a commentator in Saturday’s boxing bout at Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Hollywood, Florida.
Trump has known celebrated professional boxer Holyfield for a long time, which was “one of the reasons” the former President decided to be a part of the fight presentation.
“I tell you what, I’ve known Evander for a long time. I’ve been with him through some fantastic times in his career, and I’ve watched him go through a rough patch, but he always comes out on top. He’s a fantastic guy and a great fighter,” Trump said.
Trump has a connection with boxing. Before taking the plunge in politics, he used to organize boxing events at his Atlantic City casino. In 2000 and 2001, the Trump Taj Mahal staged the extremely popular Ultimate Fighting Championship events.
