New Delhi: The spokesperson of the US State Department, Morgan Ortagus said on Wednesday that the US faces many global challenges which it cannot face alone. “We need India, we need the partnership,” she said.
“We welcome the fact that India is now such an important global player. There are many global challenges that the US faces, we cannot face them alone. We recognise that. We need India, we need the partnership,” Morgan Ortagus was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.
“We have many allies around the world, but we have very selective partners like India,” she said.
Ortagus further said that the India-US relationship “goes beyond political parties”.
“Relation between India and the US has been around for a long time, it’ll be there for decades and much longer in future. The relation goes beyond political parties. We’ve very selected partners like India where we take time to do ‘2+2’,” Ortagus said.
“There’re global challenges in Asia where the Chinese Communist Party [CCP] have broken their promises. They have broken then in Hong Kong, they have broken them in Taiwan… This Covid-19 virus that we’re all dealing with, emanated from China. We continue to call on them to be transparent and open to allow scientists and doctors to investigate. This is something that still hasn’t happened…We have to fight this global pandemic together,” she attacked China.
