Bhubaneswar: The low-pressure has become well marked and lies over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Northwest Bay of Bengal, the India Meteorological Department informed on Friday evening.
It is likely to move west- northwestwards across Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining Jharkhand and north Odisha during next 24 hours, it added.
The system is likely to cause heavy rain in Odisha with warning issued till July 30.
The national forecaster has, however, warned of squally weather with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40 kmph to 50 kmph over North bay of bengal adjoining Westcentral bay of bengal & along and off Odisha coasts till July 27. Fishermen have been cautioned against venturing into the sea along and off Odisha coasts, North Bay of Bengal adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal as sea condition is expected to remain rough to very rough.

In view of heavy and possible flood-like situation in the state, Special Relief Commissioner Satyabrata Sahu has asked collectors of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Keonjhar, Sundargarh, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Jajpur, Dhenkanal and Angul to review the preparedness at the district level and take appropriate action.
