Kolkata: The Trinamool Congress led by Mamata Banerjee has won all four assembly seats — Dinhata, Khardaha, Santipur and Gosaba — in the byelections.
TMC’s Sovandeb Chattopadhyay won the Khardaha assembly seat by a margin of 93,832 votes. In Dinhata constituency, party’s Udayan Guha won by a margin of over 1.64 lakh votes.
Banerjee said on Twitter, “My heartiest congratulations to all the four winning candidates! This victory is people’s victory, as it shows how Bengal will always choose development and unity over propaganda and hate politics. With people’s blessings, we promise to continue taking Bengal to greater heights!”
In Santipur, it was BJP’s Niranjan Biswas against TMC’s Brajakishore Goswami. The winning margins of the TMC candidates in Santipur and Gosaba are 64,675 votes and over 1.43 lakh votes, respectively.
