What Did PM Narendra Modi Take From Odisha As Gift During 3-Nation Visit?

Bhubaneswar: A rare and exquisitely crafted Filigree boat made of pure silver from Odisha was among the unique gifts, which Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently carried on his visit to Nigeria, Brazil and Guyana.

He presented this fine example of the centuries old silver filigree art practised in Cuttack to Vice President of Guyana Bharrat Jagdeo.

The PM carried with him 8 gifts from Maharashtra, 5 from Jammu & Kashmir, 3 each from Andhra Pradesh and Rajasthan, 2 from Jharkhand and 1 each from Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Odisha and Ladakh.

He presented Silofar Panchamrit Kalash (Pot) – a stunning example of traditional craftsmanship from Kolhapur, Maharashtra, to Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Warli paintings – a tribal art form originating from the Warli tribe primarily located in the Dahanu, Talasari and Palghar regions of Maharashtra, to Brazilian President Lula da Silva.

Modi also presented several gifts in the customised gift hamper to leaders of CARICOM countries.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was given Natural Rough Amethyst with a Silver Camel Head on Top from Pune. A hand-carved silver chess set in traditional design was given to Potugese Prime Minister Luis Montenegro. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni was presented with an exquisite silver candle stand, and a hand-engraved silver fruit bowl, featuring intricate depictions of a peacock ,and a tree was given to CARICOM Secretary General Carla Barnett.

The Indian Prime Minister gifted a pair of paper-mâché gold work vases from J&K to the UK PM and Pashmina shawl in papier mache box to the First Lady of Guyana. The gifts from Rajasthan included a silver photo frame given to the Argentina President, marble inlay work to the Norway PM and gold work wooden Raj Sawari figurine to the Guyana PM.

The gifts from Andhra Pradesh included a silver clutch purse for the spouse of Brazil President. Sohrai painting from Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh was given to Nigeria Vice President, and Khovar painting to the Indonesia President.

Silver and rosewood ceremonial photo frame from UP was given to the Chile President and wooden toy train from Karnataka to younger son of Guyana President.
