Bhubaneswar: Veteran Odia singer Chitta Jena breathed his last in the early hours of Tuesday. He was 76. Members of Odia film fraternity spoke about the devoid his demise had created.

Pranab Patnaik, Singer

He will be in everybody’s heart forever. Though he was much younger than me, we had worked together in many films. His voice was very sweet. Odisha will always remember him.

Mihir Das, Actor

He used to sing according to the choice of new generation. I am thankful to God that I am a part of his family.

Srittam Das, Actor

This void can never be filled. In my first movie, ‘Sabitri’, Chitta Jena’s youngest son Sibu Jena had composed the music. Since last 22 years, I have been associated with him and his family. He had a clear and sweet voice. Whenever I hear the word ‘Priya’, he automatically comes to my  mind.

Subash Das, Singer

It is hard to accept this sad news. He had an unique voice. He had a high frequency voice. People in Odisha loved his voice. I feel lucky to have worked with him. After programme, we used to analyze our work. I lost a good friend today.

Laxmikanta Palit, Singer

It is great loss to Odia music industry. There was magic in his voice. His voice was very sweet and clear. I shared a great personal rapport with him. His demeanour was as sweet as his voice.
