New Delhi: Popular television show Anupamaa is in the news for all the wrong reasons. Actor Paras Kalnawat, who played an important character quit the show and shared in an Instagram AMA session that most of his co-stars would also like to follow suit. However, later his co-stars Nidhi Shah and Aashish Mehrotra dismissed his take and shared that all actors of the show were happy. However, Kalnawat stuck to his stance and claimed that he has screenshots where his co-stars have confessed to wanting to leave the show.
“I wrote about having a bad experience on the set of Anupamaa, because of which I left the show. So, there was no need for them to comment on what I think and what I feel,” Paras Kalnawat told Hindustan Times and added that the actors have since apologised to him.
“I told them how they have backstabbed me,” Paras continued, adding, “And now if you go and ask them the same question, their answers will differ. That’s because I sent them proofs for my claims – screenshots of messages I have from people working in the show, who are not happy and want to leave due to the chaotic environment but are staying back because of their responsibilities. They had nothing to say about it after that – they know my complaints are genuine.”
His co-star, Nidhi Shah had said, “ I don’t think there’s anyone on our set who is willing to leave. Nobody has any pressure over here. I don’t know why Paras is saying all these things.” Ashish Mehrotra called Paras Kalnawat’ statements “funny “.
With Nidhi and Ashish having apologised now, Paras said, “But, talking about me in public and apologising in private is not the solution. Aashish said he wasn’t trying to speak against me but in favour of the show, while Nidhi said that she’d make up for it.”
Paras described the sets of Anupamaa to be chaotic and also revealed in the interview that it was not unusual for actors to get into verbal spats while working on the project. “There used to be literal fights between actors with them screaming at one another. And everyone, including me, would get dragged into it. It was an ugly rat race and ego clash where no actor could see others doing better than them. Instead of supporting each other, they were pulling the other person down. You won’t even see a 16-year-old fighting over topics they used to fight about,” he said.
