Why Is BCCI Upset With Virat Kohli?

Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is not happy with Virat Kohli.

And no, it’s got nothing to do with his performance as a batsman.

The former captain, who continues to be an important member of Team India, on Thursday posted an Instagram story revealing his yo-yo test score.

“The happiness of finishing the yo-yo test between the dreaded cones. 17.2 done,” Kohli wrote along with a picture.

Yo-yo test is an important criterion for fitness, especially for in stop-and-go sports like football, cricket, basketball, etc. Kohli, known to be a fitness freak, was delighted as the BCCI-mandated fitness parameter is 16.5.

But his sharing the yo-yo test score didn’t go down well with Board officials, who reminded the players that revealing such confidential information on public platforms can lead to a breach of contract, The Indian Express reported.

“Players have been informed verbally to avoid posting any confidential matter on social media platforms. They can post pictures while training but posting a score leads to breach of contract clause,” a BCCI official was quoted as saying in the report.

The Indian team is currently in the midst of a fitness-cum-preparatory camp at Alur in Bengaluru ahead of the Asia Cup.

The six-nation ODI tournament, to be co-hosted by Sri Lanka and Pakistan, will get underway on August 30.

India will play all their matches in Sri Lanka, with their campaign-opener against Pakistan on September 2.
