Washington: US President Donald Trump on Saturday posted a video on Twitter saying that he will be “back soon” and finish the presidential election campaign.
“I feel much better now. We are working hard to get me all the way back. I have to be back because we still have to make America great again,” Trump said.
“I’ll be back soon and I look forward to finishing up the campaign,” the president added, saying “We are going to beat this coronavirus or whatever you’re gonna call it and we’re gonna beat it soundly.”
“Over the next period of a few days I guess that’s the real test, so we will see what happens over that next couple of days,” he said in the video.
Earlier, White House physician Dr Sean Conley had said that Trump was doing “very well” and was responding to the treatment.
The President is being given a five-day course of the experimental antiviral drug Remdesivir and a large dose of an experimental monoclonal antibody treatment meant to boost his immune response.
So far he has a mild cough and some nasal congestion, and fatigue, all of which are said to be “resolving and improving” according to Dr Conley.
However, a source present at Walter Reed hospital contradicted what Dr Conley said. “The President’s vitals over last 24 hours were very concerning and the next 48 hours will be critical in terms of his care. We are still not on a clear path to a full recovery,” the source reportedly said.
