Bhubaneswar: The first solar eclipse of the year will occur on June 10.
However, the eclipse will not be visible in Odisha or elsewhere in India, according to the Deputy Director of Pathani Samanta Planetarium, Dr Subhendu Pattnaik.
“The next solar eclipse will be a partial one and it will occur on December 4. On that day too, the eclipse will not be visible in Odisha. The state will get to witness a solar eclipse on October 25, 2022,” Pattnaik informed.
Where Will Solar Eclipse Visible On June 10?
The people of northern Europe, including Spain, Germany, the United Kingdom, France and Scandinavia will be able to see a partial solar eclipse.
A brief partial solar eclipse will also be visible in northeastern United States and eastern Canada.
Only a small area of northern Ontario and Quebec will see the ‘Ring Of Fire’ (annular solar eclipse).
Eclipse Timings
The annular solar eclipse event will start at 1:42 pm (IST) and will be visible to sky gazers until 6:41 pm (IST). The highest poiunt of the eclipse will be visible around 4.11 pm (IST).
What Is A Ring Of Fire?
Notably, a solar eclipse occurs when the Moon comes between the Sun and Earth.
An annular solar eclipse occurs when the Moon is farthest from the Earth. As there is a long distance, the Moon appears smaller and cannot block the entire light of the Sun. Due to this, a ring of sunlight is created around the moon. This is referred to as the ‘Ring of Fire’.
