Rayagada: A mother-daughter duo lost their limbs after falling off a train at Singapur Road railway station in Odisha’s Rayagada district.
According to sources, the woman, identified as Ratika Chandana, lost both her hands and one leg while the other leg was also broken. Similarly, the 4-year-old girl reportedly lost her right hand and one leg. The incident occurred when the family was boarding Korba Express train at Singapur Road station. While the father managed to board the train when it stooped for a minute at the station, mother and daughter slipped, leading to the mishap.
They were rescued by Government Railway Police in critical condition and admitted them to Rayagada district headquarters hospital. They were later shifted to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur as their condition worsened.
A relative told the media that the family had gone to attend the last rites of a relative and the incident took place when they were returning home.
