Berhampur: A woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband at a village in Rambha area of Odisha’s Ganjam district on over dowry demands.
As per sources, the incident took place at Benugoura village under the jurisdiction of Rambha police station.
After the couple got married last year, family members of the woman’s husband reportedly demanded more dowry and Rs two lakh cash. As the woman’s family expressed their inability to give so much money, her husband and his family started torturing her.
The woman was allegedly beaten to death by her husband and in-laws on Tuesday and her brother lodged a complaint with the police.
The victim’s father-in-law, mother-in-law and sister-in-law reportedly fled the scene after the incident. However, police have detained the deceased woman’s husband and started questioning him.
