Anandpur: A woman sustained critical injuries after being attacked by her daughter-in-law over a suspected family feud at Sarigida village in Keonjhar district on Friday.
The victim identified as Jenamani Mahanta was rescued by neighbours and rushed to Telkoi community health centre for treatment. She was later shifted to the district headquarters hospital after her condition deteriorated.
According to available information, the duo had a quarrel over consuming bad food in their house. The argument took an ugly turned when Jenamani’s daughter picked up a vegetable cutting instrument (paniki) and attacked her brutally. Following this, Jenamani sustained critical injuries on her hands and back.
The neighbours also told police that both of them used to quarrel over petty issues on several occasions.
Basing on the statements collected from the locals, police have started investigation into the matter.
