Boudh: A woman was killed after a speeding car crashed into her house at a village in Odisha’s Boudh district.
The incident happened at Radhanagar village near the National Highway No. 57 when the car rammed into the house apparently after its driver lost control over the wheels, sources said.
The woman, identified as Paneswari Dhal, was sleeping when the mishap took place late on Saturday night. She died on the spot. The fragile thatched house was extensively damaged in the incident.
The driver of the vehicle fled the spot soon after the accident and efforts are on to trace him.
Angry over the incident, villagers staged a protest and blocked Khurdha-Balangir NH-57 demanding compensation. Vehicular movement on the route was affected for some time due to the protest.
Senior police officials rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters.
