Pipili: A woman was killed and four houses were gutted when a LPG cylinder exploded in a house at Nuabudhakhera village under Satyabadi block near Pipili in Puri district on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Puja Sahu.
According to locals, the incident took place when the victim was cooking. The blast reportedly occurred due to leakage in the pipe connecting the cylinder to the stove. Two villagers, who were trying to douse the flames, also sustained injuries after falling from the roof of a nearby house.
On receiving information regarding the mishap, fire tenders from Satyabadi and Nimapara rushed to the spot and managed to douse the flames within an hour.
