Nagpur: Technology reunited a woman in her early 90s with her grandson after she went missing 43 years ago.
According to reports, the woman, Panchubai, lived in Damoh district in Rajasthan for around 40 years where she went by the name of Achchhan Mausi (aunt).
She was living with one Israr Khan’s family whose father, a truck driver, had rescued her after she was attacked by a swarm of bees, Hindustan Times reported.
Israr’s father, Noor Khan, saw her again on the roadside a few days later and inquired about her whereabouts. When she couldn’t say anything, he brought her home.
No one knows how Panchubai travelled 500 km from her village in Amravati district in Maharashtra to Damoh. Both families had tried to trace her but failed. Israr Khan said they couldn’t get a clue from her or may be they failed to understand what she said.
Finally, Israr recorded her words on his phone and figured out that she mentioned Khanjam Nagar. He found out that there is a panchayat by that name in Amravati district. By the help of Google, he got a number of a kiosk owner in Khanjam Nagar. He sought his help in circulating her photo through WhatsApp in that village and around.
A family in the village identified Mausi as Panchubai and found her grandson Prithvi Kumar Shinde who resides in Nagpur with his family now.
Shinde got in touch with Israr and brought Mausi back home.
He informed that Panchubai’s husband Tejpal passed away in 2005 and her son Bhailal too passed away three years ago.
“I am happy that I am taking my grandmother home but sad too that my grandfather and father both passed away without seeing her and that she spent 40 years without us,” Shinde said adding that he is thankful to the Khan family for taking care of his grandmother for 43 years.
