Dhenkanal: Chief District Medical Officer (CDMO) Dr Niranjan Mishra on Thursday sacked warden Manorama Behera, a day after a video showing her administer injection to a patient at the female medicine ward of district headquarters hospital here went viral.
A warden is not permitted to administer an injection to a patient.
A nurse, Saswati Behera, was also sent on long leave for having assisted her in this glaring discrepancy.
She has also been issued a show-cause letter and asked to explain her actions.
The CDMO said that the incident took place about 15-20 days ago and a probe has been launched into how the video went viral.
Incidentally, the shocking incident came the same day when a paediatric at the Patnagarh Sub-Divisional Hospital was suspended for allegedly prescribing a wrong injection for a one-year-old child suffering from diarrhoea and asking the parents to buy it from outside.
