Sundargarh: The body of a 35 year-old woman was recovered under mysterious conditions from a locked house in Talsara area of Odisha’s Sundargarh district on Tuesday amid suspicion that she was killed by her husband.
The deceased, identified as Pramila Soreng of Ghutupada in Subdega block of the district, is suspected to have been strangled to death by her husband Ali. The man, who has fled along with his son, reportedly suspected that his wife had an extra-marital affair.
However, the exact reason behind the death has not yet been ascertained.
Preliminary investigation showed that Pramila along with her husband and seven year-old son was staying in a rented house at Ghutupada. Ali worked in a private firm in Subdega.
According to locals, he had a fight with his wife on September 16, suspecting her to be involved in an illicit affair.
As foul smell emanated from the house and the door was locked, neighbours suspected foul play and informed the police who along with the tehsildar and a scientific team reached the spot and broke open the door.
The body of the woman was recovered from the house and sent for postmortem. Sources said Ali fled the scene along with his son after committing the crime.
A case has been registered and further investigation is in progress. Efforts are on to trace the husband of deceased woman.
