Bhubaneswar: A woman Maoist was killed in encounter with security forces in a village of Kandhamal district on Friday evening.
In a press briefing, Director General of Police (DGP) Abhay said during an operation of two units of SOG and DVF in the village, Maoists opened fire at the security forces. In retaliation, the forces fired at the Maoists.
Following the fire exchange, the Maoists left the place. During search of the area, the security forces found the body of a woman Maoist cadre in uniform. They also recovered two guns, four rounds of bullets and Maoisy articles from the site.
The security forces have launched a combing operation in the area, Abhay said.
