Bhubaneswar: A woman passenger travelling in Mo Bus in Bhubaneswar was robbed of gold ornaments and more than Rs 6,000 in cash on Wednesday.

According to sources, the woman, Ahalya Das of 42 Mouja of Cuttack had come to meet a patient undergoing treatment at SUM Hospital in Bhubaneswar. After meeting the patient, she boarded Mo Bus No 23 to go to Master Canteen.

When the bus reached Kalinga Studio, Ahalya found her hand bag opened. On checking it, she found her gold ornaments including 3 ear rings and a ring besides Rs 6,400 missing from the bag. She immediately filed a complaint at Bharatpur police station.

A team from the police station tracked the bus and stopped it. Since the bus was packed with passengers, the police found it difficult to check every passenger and took the bus to the police station.

As the police could not find the missing ornaments and the money after checking all passengers and their luggage, they let them go.

The police have sought the help of Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT), which operates Mo Bus, to trace the missing ornaments. They have sought the footage of CCTV inside the bus from CRUT to identify the accused, the sources said.
