Woman Run Over By Truck At Palasuni In Bhubaneswar; Locals Block NH

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a woman was killed after being run over by a speeding truck on the National Highway at Palasuni in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.

As per preliminary information, the mishap took place at when the woman was crossing the road carrying a bag of vegetables. She was knocked down by the speeding truck. Locals rushed to the spot and called the ambulance.

While the woman reportedly dies on the spot before arrival of the ambulance, the driver of the truck fled the scene along with the vehicle.

Tension prevailed in the area after the mishap as angry locals staged a road blockade demanding the construction of a foot overbridge to avoid such incidents.

Hundreds of vehicles remained stranded on the National Highway due to the blockade.

On being informed, a team from Mancheswar police station rushed to the site and initiated an investigation. The body was sent to the hospital for post-mortem, sources said.
