New Delhi: In a gruesome incident, a woman in West Bengal smashed the head of her 25-year-old son and roasted his body with ghee, spices and camphor.

According to a report in The Times Of India, the incident came to light when police started investigation following a missing complaint filed by the victim’s father Anil Mahensaria.

Anil told TOI that when he failed to contact his son Arjun for a while, he suspected foul play.

“She (Anil’s wife Geeta Mahensaria) had started practising tantra, which soured our relationship. I left the house in 2019. My elder son suffered from multiple ailments related to heart, food pipe and neurological disorder. I suspect she must have practised some tantra and sacrificed him,” Anil was quoted as saying.

On Thursday, police recovered the skeletal remains of Arjun, a blood-stained grindstone and a big kadhai from the deceased’s house in Salt Lake.

During interrogation, Arjun’s mother Geeta confessed putting her son’s body in the kadhai and adding ghee, camphor and spices to camouflage the smell of flesh. However, she denied killing her son.

Geeta and her younger son Vidur (22) were arrested.

A case has been registered under sections IPC 302 (murder), 364 (kidnapping), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 34 (common intention).

“We have asked the daughter, Vaidehi, to appear before us. We have to question her,” said an investigating officer.
