Bhopal: Odisha showed great resilience to see off the challenge of defending champions Madhya Pradesh and march into the semifinals of the 12th Hockey India Senior Women’s National Championship.

Not only were Madhya Pradesh reigning champions, they were also playing under familiar conditions in front of home crowd. But the Odisha women were not to be left behind.

Both teams scored a goal apiece in regulation time, forcing a shootout.

Odisha triumphed 2-0 in the tie-breaker to book a berth in the last four.

Odisha Boys To Battle For Bronze

In the Men’s Sub-Junior National meet at Goa, the Odisha boys suffered a heartbreak in the semifinal as they lost in the penalty shootout to Jharkhand after the teams were tied 1-1 in regulation time. Odisha will now battle for the bronze medal against the other losing semifinalist tomorrow.
