New Delhi: Subhrakant Panda, president of Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and Managing Director of Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys Limited (IMFA), emphasised on the importance of international trade in economic growth and prosperity at the 13th World Chamber Congress in Geneva.
Speaking at a session on ‘Goals for Growth: Raw Materials & Inclusive International Trade’, Panda said: “It is important for countries with natural resources to integrate with global value chains to reap rewards; however, there must also be a move towards value addition as studies show many advantages accruing from a diversified export basket which includes value added goods.”
He also highlighted India’s approach to digital infrastructure as a public service which connects and empowers people.
“It is not just innovative ideas but the scale at which they are being implemented in India which is attracting the world’s attention,” Panda stated at the World Chamber Congress, organised by International Chamber of Commerce from June 21 to 23.
The 13th Congress, themed ‘Achieving peace and prosperity through multilateralism’, brought together some of the world’s most prominent leaders and brightest minds to address significant global issues that would help in transforming the future of business.
