Belgrade: World number one tennis player Novak Djokovic and his wife Jelena have tested positive for coronavirus.
“Novak Djokovic tested positive for a virus COVID-19,” read a statement from his staff. But their children have tested negative.
“The moment we arrived in Belgrade, we went to be tested. My result is positive, just as Jelena’s, while the results of our children are negative,” Djokovic said. He will remain in self-isolation for 14 days and repeat the test in five days, he added.
He along with other players had taken part in an exhibition tennis tournament in the Balkans.
Earlier, tennis player Viktor Troicki and his pregnant wife were diagnosed to have been infected by the virus.
Grigor Dimitrov, a three-time Grand Slam semifinalist from Bulgaria on Sunday said he had tested positive.
